Healthcare organizations continue to face burnout, staffing challenges, and pressure to improve engagement and retention. Yet many wellness programs start with strong intentions and lose momentum after the first few months, often because they are built around a narrow view of wellness, such as fitness, or do not reflect what staff actually need. This session offers a practical look at how to build a wellness program employees will use by expanding the definition of wellness to include stress reduction, mindfulness, healthy eating, recognition, volunteer opportunities, book clubs, and other activities that support the whole person. Drawing on experience leading MGMA’s wellness committee, Daniel Williams will share what worked, what did not, and what had to change to involve more people. Attendees will learn how to identify and support internal champions who can help shape and lead wellness efforts. Examples from MGMA’s program, including a simple points system tied to a wellness day off or gift card, will show how to create structure without overcomplicating the process. Attendees will leave with a practical roadmap and checklist they can use right away.
This 60-minute webinar will provide you with the knowledge to:
- Define a broader wellness purpose that reflects staff interests and supports participation
- Develop a staff-driven model by identifying champions and distributing ownership of wellness initiatives
- Apply structured approaches, including incentives and varied programming, to sustain participation over time
