This webinar – scheduled for October 20, 2026, at 1 pm ET (12 pm CT, 11 am MT, 10 am PT) – is eligible for ACMPE, ACHE (live only), CME (live only), CPE (live only), PDC (live only) and CEU credit, and will be made available as a recording.
The default response to a rural vacancy is to post the job. Sometimes that's the best decision. Other times the better answer is a locums bridge with a defined end date, an APP-led model with specialty backup, a telehealth arrangement, a regional partnership — or a decision not to staff the service line at all.
This session presents new national research from Jackson Physician Search, LocumTenens.com, and MGMA on how rural organizations choose among coverage models, how often those choices are made deliberately versus by default, and what separates organizations that execute quickly from those that stall.
Panelists will explore the research’s decision matrix live: which specialties and market conditions favor permanent recruitment, where bridge coverage buys the right kind of time, where team redesign is the durable answer, and how to sequence models rather than treat them as alternatives. A rural health executive will pressure-test the matrix against actual budget cycles and medical staff politics.
This 60-minute webinar will provide you with the knowledge to:
- Differentiate the market and specialty conditions under which permanent recruitment, locum tenens bridge coverage, APP-led team models, telehealth, or regional partnership is the appropriate first move
- Evaluate coverage strategies using continuity, cost, and speed-to-coverage metrics
- Develop a specialty coverage playbook with escalation pathways for staffing risks
