About Miki Patterson, PhD, NP
Miki Patterson is a certified orthopedic nurse practitioner with more than 25 years of clinical experience in healthcare consulting, direct advanced orthopedic patient care, university-level teaching and quantitative and qualitative National Institutes of Health (NIH) research and publishing. She has more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, delivered hundreds of presentations and review courses and previously served as president of the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses. Dr. Patterson was recently awarded The Outstanding Contribution to Orthopedic Nursing. She was part of the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses research task force on safe patient handling and movement, working with other organizations and experts to delineate high risk for injury tasks and develop algorithms for staff and patient safety. Dr. Patterson currently serves as the product owner of the 3M™ Ambulatory Potentially Preventable Complications (AM-PPCs) grouping software for 3M Health Information Systems. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing at Fitchburg State University, master’s degree from Boston College and PhD in nursing research from University of Massachusetts Medical School.
