Patient Right to Request a Restriction of Uses and Disclosures

As required in the 2013 HITECH Act, patient now have the right to ask practices to restrict disclosures of health information to a health plan when the patient pays out of pocket in full. This document addresses a number of the most common questions MGMA has received from members on this new requirement.
