    Stephen A. Dickens, JD, M.A.Ed., FACMPE
    Vice President, Risk & Practice Management, SVMIC

    Stephen A. Dickens is an attorney and vice president of risk and practice management at SVMIC. He is a published author and frequent speaker at state and national conferences. Before joining SVMIC in 2008, he worked with physicians in various roles, including 15 years in medical practice, hospital and home care executive positions. 

    Dickens is a past chair of MGMA and was the first solo chair of MGMA-ACMPE. He is a past president of the MGMA Financial Management Society, Tennessee MGMA and Tennessee Association for Home Care. He is a certified medical practice executive and a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. In addition, he has previously earned Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives and certification as a home and hospice care executive by the National Association for Home Care. 

    He is the 2015 recipient of the Martha Johnson Distinguished Service Award from the Tennessee Medical Group Management Association, honoring his contributions to the organization and the medical practice profession. He was named Tennessee’s Home Care Administrator of the Year and received the President’s Award for service to the industry from the Tennessee Association for Home Care.

    Rana McSpadden, FACMPE, CHPC, CPC
    Medical Practice Consultant, SVMIC

    Rana McSpadden is a consultant with the Medical Practice Services department of SVMIC. She joined SVMIC in 2011 and has over 25 years in the healthcare industry, including billing and practice administration. In her role as a consultant, she assists physicians and staff with financial and operational assessments, patient experience, workplace violence, coding, cybersecurity, as well as education for compliance with HIPAA and OSHA. She provides educational presentations for local, state, and national professional associations and residency programs. 

    Rana has served as President of the Upper Cumberland MGMA, Tennessee ACMPE College Forum Representative, MGMA Chair of the Fellowship Submission Committee, and currently sits on the ACMPE Certification Commission. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Tennessee Tech, is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives, is Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance, and a Certified Professional Coder.

    Certificate courses are available for one full year from the purchase date, unless otherwise specified. Certificates purchased but not yet started will be eligible for a refund within 90 days from the date of purchase. Fees cannot be refunded once the program has been started or completed.
