2021 ACMPE Scholarship Fund Recipients

MGMA Leaders Scholarship – 1st Place Recipient Christina Houston will graduate in the Spring of 2022 from the Master of Health Administration program at Maryville University – St. Louis, MO. She is a registered health information technician with over 20 years’ experience in both specialty and primary care practice management. As a practice manager for Esse Health, she is focused on finding ways to lower healthcare spending while maintaining quality of care and improving the patient experience. Both as a mentor and practicum site for many healthcare students, Christina is committed to helping and educating others on how they can be a leader for change within our healthcare community. In the near future, she looks forward to obtaining her ACMPE Certification, exploring fellowship opportunities within MGMA, and sharing her love for learning through teaching and speaking engagements.
 
MGMA Leaders Scholarship – 2nd Place Recipient Zen Nguyen was born and raised in Texas. Zen is a first-generation college student striving for his Masters in Health Administration at Columbia University. He has traveled from Hawai'i to pursue higher education and hopes to venture further to be a significant force in public health. 





 
Richard L. Davis, FACMPE Scholarship Recipient Colby Adolphsen is a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Husson University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maine in 2012. Colby has worked in a variety of ambulatory medical practice settings for the past seven years including time as the manager of a Family Medicine practice and currently as the practice manager at an Orthopaedic office. In 2020, he obtained his credential as a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through MGMA. Colby is pursuing this degree to advance his knowledge of the business aspects of healthcare and further develop as a leader in the healthcare system. He is thankful for this scholarship and the opportunities that it provides.
 
MGMA Southern Section Scholarship Recipient Bradford Lemmons was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He received his undergraduate degree from Furman University in Greenville, SC, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science. Currently, he is a 2022 Master of Health Administration (MHA) candidate at the University of South Carolina. He has a graduate assistantship at McLeod Health Physician Associates where he gained a lot of experience with quality improvement strategies and patient-centered care programs. Within his future career, he hopes to assist in creating innovative solutions to improve health equity for all individuals. He is thankful for the opportunities and the knowledge that comes with being a MGMA student member.

 
Andrea M. Rossiter, FACMPE Scholarship Recipient Jason Curry is a practicing Emergency Medicine physician in Charleston, SC. In his time outside of clinical care he is involved in multiple hospital committees and projects to drive physician engagement. His interests include physician culture and the interdependence of the business and clinical systems involved in healthcare delivery. He enjoys international travel and photography, especially in the scenic Charleston area.



 
Richard L. Davis, FACMPE – UNC Scholarship Recipient Jessica Hickey is currently a second-year master’s student, earning her degree in Healthcare Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She got her undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Health Science at Furman University. Upon graduation, she went to work at North Greenville Fitness where she was a team manager and exercise physiologist. After three years at North Greenville Fitness Jessica went back to school to further her education in pursuit of increasing access to healthcare for all individuals. In the summer of 2021, Jessica was an intern at Kintegra Health, a federally qualified health center. She worked with the quality team in gaining two of their sites Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition. Upon graduation, Jessica hopes to continue working on increasing access to affordable healthcare for all. She is honored by receiving this scholarship and excited for what the future holds.
 
Harry J. Harwick Scholarship Recipient Justin Del Rosario is a Master of Healthcare Administration candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles - Fielding School of Public Health. He recently received his Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics & Public Health—Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley. He currently works at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as the Quality Improvement Coordinator II for the Data & Analytics team, where he produces data infrastructures for real-time dashboards and QI metric reports that inform executive decision-making. Prior, he worked in clinical operations for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Division of Neurology, and interned in patient-centered programing & government relations for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland’s Center for Child and Community Health. Justin’s track record has allowed him to participate in the discussion table with many medical and administrative leaders to promote preventive care for all children and to ensure that health service organizations play a central role in children’s built environments. Entering UCLA’s MHA Program with a focus on health disparities, Justin has developed a deep empathy for others who have struggled, and an unwavering desire to prevent children from growing in harsh realities. The generosity of the Harry J. Harwick Scholarship will pass on for generations to come through Justin.
 
Richard L. Davis, FACMPE – Appalachian Scholarship Recipient Laura Santos Delgado is a senior at Appalachian State University in the Health Care Management program. She chose this field of study because she has a passion for helping people. Upon graduation she will be able to assist patients integrate into a more modern, efficient, and reliable healthcare setting within the Appalachia community. She is specifically driven to help those with limited access to healthcare. She is a part of the Phi Sigma Pi as well as the Honors Society. She would like to thank MGMA for all of your generous support as she strives to become an asset for the healthcare industry.
 

MGMA Midwest Section Scholarship Recipient Peter is a full-time graduate student studying at the University of Cincinnati, where he is in his second semester in the Master of Health Administration program. He earned his Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 2021, and now works full time at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as an Anesthesia Technician, and has also conducted research with the Department of Immunology and Rheumatology. Peter enjoys volunteering with nonprofits in his spare time, especially with the American Red Cross in various ways, including as an Emergency Medical Responder. Peter is very grateful to MGMA and the ACMPE Scholarship Fund Inc. for this opportunity.
 

MGMA Southern Section Scholarship Recipient Priyadarshini Peter was drawn to the field of research at the age of fourteen, wanting to transform patient care through scientific discovery. Over the six years of working in the collaborative research space, she learned she could serve a greater purpose by effectively and compassionately bridging the gap between science and business to drive innovation and move healthcare forward. Rightly, she is pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration and Business Administration (MHA-MBA) at Texas Woman’s University. What commenced as a motivation to advance patient outcomes through innovation has grown into a passion for improving employee well-being, eliminating preventable medical errors and inefficiencies, and prioritizing cultural competence and health equity. Priya currently works in the Texas Medical Center as a Clinical Studies Coordinator at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee in the Division of Cancer Medicine, the largest of 12 divisions that comprise the institution. She is immensely grateful for the MGMA National Scholarship and looks forward to upholding the organization’s mission of creating a meaningful change in healthcare.
 
MGMA Western Section Scholarship Recipient Remmington Campbell has lived in Alaska, Hawaii, Japan and now Utah. He is a family man who loves his wife and children, singing, martial arts, the outdoors and shooting. He loves teaching his children new things and sharing new food and music with them from around the world, and raising them to be bilingual. Remmington is beginning his MBA Healthcare Management degree at Western Governors University. He thoroughly enjoys working with interns and entrepreneurs through the volunteer business incubator he founded. After receiving his MBA, Remmington is planning to leverage his experience in clinical care, laboratory medicine, and business processes to make healthcare systems more user-friendly and sustainable, especially in rural Alaska where he grew up. Remmington uses his communication and HR skills to host a podcast about how to have better conversations. And he runs an awareness/fundraising program to help combat child trafficking in the United States. He considers himself extremely blessed, and is tremendously appreciative, to be the beneficiary of this scholarship.
