Healthcare is in a state of unprecedented transition and growth as it embarks upon a shift in thought processes, learning techniques, technology, and attitudes of future leaders in healthcare. Those who currently have careers as healthcare leaders are discovering that what may have previously worked for them in leading others now requires a change, not only their thought process of being a mentor to the new generation, but in how they interact, communicate, approach, and inspire these individuals.   The purpose of this paper is to introduce the millennial generation and to educate leaders in healthcare about how to conduct mentorships that prepare older personnel for effectively guiding, influencing, and collaborating with the next generation entering the workforce.
