    Opening Session: Legislative Update

    Session Details:

This presentation highlights how the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) is leading advocacy efforts to strengthen Ohio’s healthcare system by promoting fair insurance practices, protecting patient access to care, and supporting a physician-led, team-based model of medicine. It showcases OSMA’s work on key legislation to reform prior authorization, improve network adequacy, prevent unfair reimbursement practices, increase transparency, and expand coverage for critical screenings and treatments. The presentation also outlines OSMA’s role in scope-of-practice debates, emphasizing collaboration while ensuring patient safety and quality care. Attendees will also learn more about how state government works and how advocacy at the Statehouse shapes the policies that impact patient care and the medical profession every day—positioning OSMA as a strong voice for physicians and patients working to create a more accessible, transparent, and patient-centered healthcare system in Ohio.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Explain the key legislative and regulatory priorities impacting Ohio’s healthcare system, including prior authorization reform, network adequacy, reimbursement practices, transparency initiatives, and expanded coverage for critical screenings and treatments.
