Disaster Planning

Federal Compliance

[Updated July 27, 2020]

Federal law provides a variety of powers for the government to use in response to a crisis or emergency. By making certain declarations that an emergency or disaster exists, the government activates support for those impacted, such as access to funding or waivers of generally applicable requirements. This resource discusses federal emergency authorities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the effect lifting one or more declarations may have on current regulatory and legal flexibilities.
