    Janice Miller, MHA
    Texas


    Texas MGMA would like to recognize Janice Miller for our volunteer spotlight. Janice currently serves as president of Texas MGMA and has served on the board of directors in various positions for the past 5 years. We are grateful for her leadership and guidance in these years that included many changes. Janice is the Department Administrator with Houston Methodist, Institute for Reconstructive Surgery.

    Steve Freeland, MBA
    Indiana


    Steve works tirelessly and diligently as the Legislative Liaison for Indiana. He provides routine updates to the board and members and actively participates in House/Senate meetings in the state. He's not just talking the talk, he walks the walk to influence and impact real change in healthcare legislation that matters to IMGMA members!

    John Giertz, CMPE
    Illinois


    Illinois MGMA would like to recognize John Giertz, CMPE, for his many years of dedicated and tireless service as the ILMGMA ACMPE Forum Representative. John has been instrumental in leading many of our colleagues through the certification and fellowship process. Through promotion of the certification platform, mentoring, and encouragement, John has enabled Illinois MGMA to cultivate a path to excellence in medical practice leadership within the State of Illinois.

    Thalia Baker, FACMPE
    Alabama


    Thalia Baker, FACMPE currently serves as Alabama MGMA's Vice President and 2023 conference program chair.  She has also served many years as the ACMPE forum representative. She is always committed to her volunteer position in addition to her job as Associate Vice President, Primary Care at UAB Medicine. We are so grateful for her commitment and leadership in Alabama MGMA!

    Daun Hilla
    Missouri


    As a member of the MO MGMA Board of Directors, Daun has worked tirelessly over the past year to be a resource to all the local chapters in Missouri. Most notably she has helped resurrect two local chapters by taking a leading role in mentoring and encouraging leadership and by setting up meetings with all the practice leaders in that market to gain buy in.

    Carilee Andreu-Neel, CMPE
    North Narolina


    Carrilee has served on the NCMGMA board of directors since 2020. In addition to her service to the state board, she volunteers with multiple state outreach committees and is President of her local affiliated chapter, the Eastern Medical Group Managers. She, along with her local board members, has boosted membership and meeting attendance over the past couple of years during her tenure. North Carolina is grateful to have her as a member and leader in our state!

    Joe Rivet, Esq., CCS-P, CHC, CEMC, CPC, CPMA, CICA, CHRC, CHPC, CCEP, CAC, CACO, AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM Certified Trainer
    Michigan


    As Michigan MGMA's Reimbursement Chair, Joe provides our members with timely billing & coding updates through newsletter articles and webinars. Joe also runs our annual Third Party Payer Day, and when faced with an unexpected space in our schedule at last year's event, he did not hesitate to hold an impromptu Q&A session. Despite his busy schedule as a health care attorney, Joe is generous with his time and knowledge and is truly an excellent resource for Michigan MGMA.

    Michelle Hershberger, BSN, RN, CMPE
    Kansas


    Michelle Hershberger has been an outstanding executive board member of KS MGMA over the past several years, and now as President, has shown exceptional leadership even when she is managing a very busy clinical practice.  Even when faced with significant organizational challenges in the past year on our board, Michelle has risen to the occasion and taken the lead, always quick to be supportive and acknowledge her team.

    Karen Bowman, FACMPE, CPC, CMPA
    Tennessee


    Karen served as Tennessee MGMA's president in 2016 and returned to our leadership team in 2021 as ACMPE Forum Representative. Karen’s passion for ACMPE advancement is contagious. She writes newsletter articles, leads online study groups and teaches pre-conference ACMPE workshops. Karen has encouraged more than 60 MGMA members to take steps towards candidacy, certification and Fellowship.

    Justin Garry, FACMPE
    South Dakota


    Justin is currently ACMPE Forum Rep and has served in many officer positions including President over the years. Justin co-chairs the Education Committee that is responsible for the conferences, webinars, and Third Party Payer Day for the SDMGMA and has served on this committee for many years. Justin's passion guides the members of the Committee in researching presenters and themes, lining up fun networking activities, and he is always willing to jump in to help at all events for whatever need arises. His volunteerism and dedication to the SDMGMA does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by all!

    Ben Hodges
    Utah


    Ben Hodges has been a long-time supporter and member of MGMA Utah. He is currently serving on the board as President. His leadership has helped our state issue in a new era of UMGMA as we adjust to the ever-changing landscape in the medical management professional community bringing forth and supporting new ideas and new approaches to the events that make MGMA Utah great. Ben is a great leader in knowing when it's time to lead and when it's time to support others in their leadership roles.
