Job Summary: This position is responsible for creating, designing, implementing, and continually improving training programs for nurses and allied health clinicians.
 
Primary Job Responsibilities: (Select and/or modify these job responsibilities for your position) 

  1. Participates in strategic planning with clinical services manager and other senior staff to identify trends in clinical care and related future training.
  2. Conducts training needs analysis to gather information and target future training opportunities. Evaluates current programs for relevance and successful outcomes.
  3. Designs and develops curricula and clinical educational programs for new, existing and upgraded clinical informatics software, including all education materials, training schedules, exercises, and skills evaluations.
  4. Develops and administers training assessment, analyze results, makes recommendations for training improvement, and integrates changes in curriculum and/or courses.
  5. Provides research-based findings, expert advice and counsel to internal customers to facilitate ongoing learning and stimulate interest in the search of knowledge.
  6. Coaches and facilitates the professional development and clinical abilities of clinical staff.
  7. Presents variety of clinical training programs. Conducts train-the-trainer sessions to enable others to teach these programs.
  8. Identifies and evaluates off-site educational programs including management and skills training for staff. Coordinates, schedules, and documents vendor training.
  9. Plans and organizes short and long term projects and maintains high quality planning documents.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: BSN or other clinical degree. MS in instructional design and adult learning preferred.
 
Experience: Minimum five years of experience as clinician, plus three to five years’ experience as clinical staff trainer.
 
Other Requirements:

  • Current RN state license or other license/certification related to clinical specialty.
  • Current CPR certificate.

  3. Knowledge of adult learning theories and techniques.

  3. Skill in group facilitation, group dynamics and team building.
  4. Skill in problem-solving and analysis.
  5. Skill in conflict resolution.

Abilities:

  1. Ability to research course development, delivery concepts and technical clinical issues.
  2. Ability to present programs effectively to other clinicians.
  3. Ability to teach others to present the programs proficiently.
  4. Ability to interact with variety of clinicians in user-friendly manner.
  5. Ability to solve problems and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  6. Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, appropriate practice management software, and Social Media web platforms.

Equipment Operated: Standard office and training equipment including computers and audio-visual machines.
 
Work Environment: Mostly classroom and medical office environment. Little patient contact.
