Do sports teams win or lose at the draft? While the reality is more nuanced, there’s no doubt that a successful draft contributes to building a competitive team and a winning season. The same is true for medical groups in competition for physicians. The growing physician shortage, partly fueled by two of every five physicians on the cusp of retirement, means practices are recruiting physicians still in residency or fellowship earlier than ever.  But just as the average NFL career is only 3.3 years, it’s been estimated that many physicians don’t stay much longer in their first physician job.

In this session, the speakers will unpack the results of a new MGMA and Jackson Physician Search survey of early career physicians that uncovers the specific factors they prioritized in their first job search, what motivated them to stay at or leave their first position, and what they wish they would have known and done differently.  Medical practices will learn how to improve the odds that early career physicians will be a strong cultural fit, match physician expectations with reality, and ultimately, be motivated to stay and grow within the organization.

This 60-minute webinar will provide you with the knowledge to:

    • Outline the motivators driving early career physicians to accept their first position
    • Discover opportunities to improve recruitment and retention strategies
    • Diagram more effective physician-practice
