    In April 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it will test two new voluntary payment models, Primary Care First (PCF) and Direct Contracting, which build off existing CMS Innovation Center initiatives. This resource will focus on the PCF model, which is a five-year program that will begin in CY 2020.  PCF intends to reward value and quality in the delivery of advanced primary care for participating practices ready to assume limited financial risk in exchange for reduced administrative burdens and performance-based payments.
