Kidney Care Payment Models

In July 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced two new voluntary kidney care payment models that are expected to open for participation in 2020: Kidney Care First (KCF) and Comprehensive Kidney Care Contracting (CKCC), with Graduated, Professional, and Global payment tracks. This resource provides an overview of the KCF and CKCC models, practice and patient eligibility requirements, payment mechanisms, implementation timelines, and frequently asked questions. CMS will provide further details on both models via the CMS Innovation Center landing page for voluntary kidney models.
