The relaunch of MGMA Connection

The redesigned and reformatted MGMA Connection magazine debuted this month, with a new flipbook edition that offers the full experience of the print edition on desktop and mobile devices along with a few new extras. All MGMA members have exclusive access to this new delivery method. Check it out today. MGMA highlighted for HIT experts, "powerful ideas"

In late December, Health Data Management released its list of 30 leading HIT experts to watch in 2019. Among those named were MGMA President and CEO Dr. Halee Fischer-Wright and Robert Tennant, HIT policy director for MGMA Government Affairs.

MGMA was recognized for raising a voice for healthcare leaders “about the role of IT in delivering safe and efficient patient care” and “physician engagement and use of technology in medical practice.”

Additionally, Dr. Halee Fischer-Wright's appearance on the "Fixing Healthcare" podcast series, led by Robert Pearl, MD, was highlighted recently among the "18 Powerful Ideas to Fix Healthcare" in Pearl's article in Forbes.

State leaders convene

MGMA’s state affiliate leaders will gather Jan. 24-26 in Denver for MGMA19 | The State Leaders Conference, an invitation-only live event to provide attendees with policy updates, networking opportunities, leadership development education and tools and best practices for association management.

New certification pathways launch

New for 2019, two board certification pathways are available for entering the program to attain the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) credential:
  • Pathway One: Applicants must have two years of healthcare experience, hold a bachelor’s degree or 120 hours of college credit, be a current MGMA member and pay the application fee.
  • Pathway Two: Applicants must be a current MGMA member and pay an application fee to be eligible to take the multiple-choice exam. Upon passing, applicants become “board eligible” as they work toward earning a bachelor’s degree or 120 hours of college credit, as well as obtaining two years of healthcare experience.
