Instead of having a patient drive to their physician’s office to find out how to treat a mosquito bite or where to go to get a flu shot, consumers can have those simple questions answered by a chatbot, according to a recent MedPage Today article. Using artificial intelligence-based technology, chatbots converse with patients through voice or text.

Adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare is booming, according to analysis conducted by Frost & Sullivan. The study found that healthcare AI earned $633.8 million in 2014 and estimates a ten-fold leap to $6.6 billion in revenue in 2021 as the technology branches into every facet of the medical field.
