Overview

This 14-week course will give participants the materials that they need to prepare for and pass the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification program and final exam at an unrivaled value. This MGMA course goes beyond the books and offers a multi-faceted and interactive
approach to preparation.

Taught by an AAPC-certified instructor, you will have access to official materials and the best resources available to give you an accelerated beginning to in-depth CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS knowledge for a full year.

Continuing Education Information

This course has the following weekly requirements: 
Weekly time commitment is approximately three to five hours a week of online education and study time, quizzes at the end of each chapter, facilitated proctored quizzes intermittently and a weekly webinar discussion every Wednesday at 6:00 pm EST (UTC-4; 5:00 pm CST, 4:00 am MST, 3:00 am PST). Convert to your time zone.

The format? Engaging, up-to-date content focused on healthcare designed to maximize learning:
  • Multimedia, videos and animation, Adobe Connect webinar discussion sessions
  • Interactive quizzes and real-life problem-solving scenarios
  • Identification of learning gaps and additional resources to close those gaps

To provide you with maximum scheduling flexibility, this course is divided into several short segments, allowing you to complete the weekly modules at your convenience. Each weekly class is approximately one hour.

Senior Industry Advisor , MGMA

Beverly Gibson, MBA, M.Ed., CMPE, CPC, CPC-I, CPMA, CEMA joined Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) in April 2018 as a senior industry advisor with expertise in billing, coding, auditing and revenue cycle management.

She has more than 25 years of experience in medical practice administration and financial management. Before joining MGMA, Gibson was a senior consultant for a national consulting firm.

Gibson has a passion for finding and closing gaps in the revenue cycle. She specializes in leveling Evaluation and Management (E&M) services and provides chart audits for medical providers with the dual purposes of maximizing revenue and minimizing external audit risk.

Her credentials include certified coder and instructor, auditor of evaluation and management services and other professional fee services, as well as medical practice executive.

Course Requirements
To receive a certificate of completion of this course, you must:
  • Complete coursework with chapter exams
  • Participate in weekly virtual-room discussion calls
  • Complete all homework assignments
  • Complete a midterm exam
