2016 ACO results: MSSP nets a loss but ACOs save Medicare $70 million overall


According to recently released 2016 performance data, Medicare Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), including the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) and three demonstration projects, collectively saved Medicare $70.6 million last year. Over half (56%) of ACOs surpassed their benchmark, but less than one third (30%) received shared savings payments.
