Federal judge blocks merger between Aetna and Humana, citing consumer harm


On Jan. 23, a U.S. district court judge blocked the proposed $37 billion merger between insurers Aetna and Humana, holding that the consolidation would substantially lessen competition in markets for Medicare Advantage plans and health insurance sold on public exchanges.
