Many challenges have emerged with the growth of physician employment by health systems. Losses on employed physician networks have steadily risen to the point of threatening hospital bottom lines. However, hospitals have been willing to invest this money, as it brought community access, ED coverage and ensured market viability. Health systems also realize that by building their employed network, they are investing in capabilities to improve quality by better coordinating care and managing risk contracts over the long term. Unfortunately, many health systems still lack a sophisticated understanding of the root cause of the losses within their network. This session will provide attendees a framework to effectively build and implement appropriate practice management dashboard reporting, allowing practice leaders to pinpoint these losses and move forward successfully

Official Continuing Education Statements and Availability

American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) 
This program is approved as a live learning event for ACMPE continuing education hours. A cumulative total of 50 ACMPE continuing education credit hours is among the requirements for attaining the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) credential. To maintain CMPE or Fellow status, you must earn 50 hours of qualifying credit hours every three years, of which 30 hours must come from MGMA national, state or local offerings, including 12 from a live learning event.

One ACMPE credit is earned for every 60 minutes of educational content, rounded down to the nearest 0.25. 

Continuing Education Units (CEU) 
A certificate of attendance will be provided to healthcare professionals requesting generic CEUs for professional development, certifications through other professional associations or specialty societies.

Davis Creech, MBA, MHA

Mr. Creech’s professional experience has revolved around the management of physician enterprises and employed physician networks. Early in his career, he was based in the physician/hospital development division of a large acute care facility in Louisville, Ky, where he learned the inner workings of a physician office from the ground up, as well as how to effectively manage large and small practices. As his career advanced, his responsibilities increased over all the employed and managed physicians in the network. His practice focuses on appropriately assessing the needs of these networks, identifying opportunities to enhance the performance and culture of these networks and developing a strategic vision for the future for these networks to become an asset for the organization. Davis was an executive at Jewish Hospital for seven years with leadership roles in physician management, network referral and development. He holds masters’ degrees in business and hospital administration from Xavier University and a bachelor’s in economics and management from Centre College. 
 
Beth Simpson, MHSA 
Sr. Manager, HSG 
 
Mrs. Simpson’s passion for healthcare is rooted in her personal desire to help others, especially when they are most vulnerable. She enjoys utilizing her operations and analytical background to assist clients in identifying opportunities for improvement within practice operations and revenue cycle. In addition, Beth has contributed extensively to the completion of hundreds of fair market value (FMV) and commercial reasonableness opinions for physician and advanced practitioner compensation, hospital-based services subsidies, medical directorships, on-call coverage compensation, asset valuations, and overhead sharing arrangements. 
Prior to joining HSG, Beth was as a quality of care analyst at Rocking Horse Community Health Center in Springfield, Ohio, and business manager at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She completed her administrative residency at Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio. 
Beth holds a bachelor of science in fitness and wellness management from Eastern Kentucky University and a master of health services administration from Xavier University.

Pat is an experienced, accomplished and results oriented healthcare executive with a clinical nursing background and a proven track record of success. He has more than 25 years of experience leading medical groups, service lines and multidisciplinary teams within integrated healthcare delivery systems and independent practices. He has an entrepreneurial mindset with experience growing startup healthcare businesses and scaling business unit growth within a complex matrixed organization.
