Laurie M. East, CPA, MBA, FACMPE, Consultant

Laurie M. East, CPA, MBA, FACMPE is a dynamic and resourceful executive leader with extensive knowledge in healthcare finance, financial operations and strategic planning in both hospital and physician practice settings. Laurie has proven success in P&L management, financial reporting, financial forecasting, budgeting, revenue cycle, strategic planning, analytics, financial operations and general ledger management.

As Acting Chief Operating Officer for Pediatric Specialty Services, Laurie successfully implemented a new Practice Management and Electronic Health Record system in collaboration with IT, physicians and the revenue cycle team. Working with her operations team on streamlining workflow, Laurie and her team were able to have significant improvements in the revenue cycle yielding an additional $2M in NOI. During her tenure, Laurie onboarded 10 new providers and opened 6 new locations, increasing access to new patients and revenue generating opportunities.

As CFO for ‘Specially for Children, Laurie served as a subject matter expert to the practice and physicians in the areas of revenue cycle, physician compensation, financial analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, pro forma preparations, financial and strategic planning for a multispecialty physician practice with 85 providers and 9 locations.  To serve these patients and provide the physicians with the compensation they deserve, Laurie continuously analyzed practice operations for efficiency, revenue enhancement, collections and cost containment.  

In her role as Finance Consulting Manager at Dell Children’s Medical Center, Laurie served as a finance operations liaison between network finance and clinical operations. In this role, Laurie bridged the gap between the operational associates, finance associates and the executive leadership team, helping all of them to understand each other better. By listening to the clinical needs of the operational associates, Laurie was able to translate these needs into the format needed by the finance and executive teams for them to make informed decisions. In addition, she was also able to translate the finance team, or the executive teams request into what it meant operational thus eliminating undue stress on staff. She worked with finance, IT, clinical staff and senior leadership to create financial reports that helped clinic staff operate more efficiently. She coached the clinical staff and created a structure to support the creation and updating of reporting.

Laurie received her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Rhode Island and her MBA form Tulane University. Laurie is a licensed CPA and is a FACMPE. She serves on the board for the TMF Healthcare Quality Institute in her local city, Austin, TX.
