ACMPE Credit Hours

Item: Provide ACMPE continuing education credit for state and local MGMA education programs
The Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management, developed by ACMPE, provides a guide to developing educational content.

State MGMA:

  • Streamlined ability to communicate eligibility of educational programming with minimal administrative and environmental burdens

MGMA:

  • Visibility for ACMPE at state and local educational events
  • Additional opportunities for ACMPE members to earn and maintain credit hours

Expectations

State MGMA:

Promote ACMPE credit hours in education materials
Provide proper attribution to ACMPE
Provide ACMPE credit hour information to program attendees

MGMA:

Provide a process for determining program eligibility
Provide messaging for communication to program attendees

Purpose

The purpose of providing state and local MGMA affiliates with the tools to communicate the applicability of state and local programs toward ACMPE continuing education credit is to:
  • Offer quality programs that will attract members to state and local meetings
  • Provide cost-effective access to educational programs that fit within the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management
  • Help ACMPE members fulfill the continuing education requirement in order to advance and maintain their designations

Process

State staff and volunteer leaders may create their own communications describing ACMPE credit hour eligibility for state and local meetings.
  • Evaluate the content of the proposed educational event to determine that it falls within the Body of Knowledge for Medical Practice Management
  • Communicate the following message in education program materials and in member communications as appropriate.
American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) credit hours: To apply this program toward your ACMPE continuing education requirement, please calculate the total number of clock hours that you spent in educational sessions. Visit mgma.org and choose the “ACMPE” option under “My Account” to enter your hours. We recommend that state and local organizations use this language in their member communications as they see fit.
