The Academic Practice Assembly (APA) of MGMA is a unique subset of medical group practice managers. The distinctive role that academic practice managers play in the support of group practice administration, institutional administration, community service, internal and external research activities and medical education, make APA membership unique. The mission of the Academic Practice Assembly is to promote excellence in health care delivery and management of the academic medical practice group through a broad range of group practice leadership and professional development experiences, education, information, communication, an advocacy network, teaching and research activities. The APA pursues this mission through the following set of values: A commitment to customer-oriented services relating to our membership, staff and other constituencies, which enhances excellence in academic practice. A commitment to continuous quality improvement in all that we do. A commitment to collegial fellowship and networking for the creation of a positive climate that is charged with learning and exchange of ideas/information. A commitment to inclusivity of our membership that represents a broad range of organizational types and management roles in the academic practice environment. A commitment to individual and group excellence through education facilitated by diverse and creative programming. A commitment to the recognition of excellence and service by acknowledging individual and group contributions to academic practice. A commitment to leadership and effective management through team orientation with managers and physicians.
