New compliance resources posted on MGMA.com

MGMA has recently updated its Web site to provide MGMA members with easy access to government resources. By visiting MGMA.com/compliance, members will find several resources related to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. These government publications specifically address the law as it relates to healthcare providers. For example, included on the list is a 19-page guide entitled Access To Medical Care For Individuals With Mobility Disabilities, which discusses issues that may arise when treating patients with disabilities in a physician’s office or clinic.

We have also posted the latest Medicare Quarterly Provider Compliance Newsletter that highlights current billing issues and improper activities that are the focus of Medicare Recovery Audit Contractors and other government investigators. The most recent issue of the newsletter identifies several topics relevant to physician practices, including the use of untimed codes and billing for the technical component of imaging services during an inpatient hospital stay.
