  1. Report to the Finance/Audit Committee.

  2. Regulate, review and propose revisions to the Association’s investment policy.

  3. Make decisions regarding the investment consultant retained and the money managers chosen on behalf of the Association.

  4. Regulate and review the investment performance of the investment consultant and money managers and monitor compliance of such performance with the Association investment policy.

  5. Manage the investments of the Association retirement plans, Association reserves and other Association funds.

  6. Review distributions from and contributions to the retirement plans on a quarterly basis.

  7. Develop and review proposed changes to the design of the retirement plans and recommend such changes to the Finance/Audit Committee for its consideration.

  1. Serve as advisory to staff and make recommendations to Board of Directors.

  2. Review proposed federal legislation and regulations and recommend appropriate action within MGMA policy.

  3. Recommend changes to existing MGMA policy when necessary to accomplish effective legislative or regulatory goals.

  4. Seek input and advice on special interest matters from appropriate sections, assemblies/societies and/or other special interest groups as policy recommendations are being developed. Serve as a reference and education resource for other committees, assemblies and sections on legislative matters.

  5. Maintain constant surveillance over federal/state legislation and regulations to anticipate future legislative needs.

  6. Recommend to the Board of Directors new federal legislation and legislation to modify existing laws of interest to the Association.

  7. Monitor the development and issuance of federal regulations to make recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning action on such regulations.

  8. Recommend, where appropriate, to the Board of Directors nominees to statutorily mandated commissions, boards or advisory committees.

  1. Establish examination procedures that insure all examinees are provided a fair and impartial opportunity to meet examination requirements.

  2. Assist in conducting tutorial sessions in cooperation with staff for individuals preparing to take the examinations.

  3. Serve as Examination Mentors, as needed.

  4. Review the composition and format of the essay and objective examinations, systematically updating each.

  5. Assist in writing, reviewing and updating essay and objective examination questions, as well as items for ACMPE assessments as needed.

  6. Make any recommendations to the ACMPE Board for changes in the way the examination is structured or administered.

  7. Serve as proctors at designated exam sites.

  8. Establish procedures to assure confidentiality of the exams and exam results.

  9. Ensure that proper standards of grading essay and objective examinations are maintained.

  10. Periodically evaluate reaction of examinees to the exams in order to enlist constructive criticism useful in updating the examination program and procedures and obtain outside expert consultation as needed in the areas of test construction and evaluation.

  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the ACMPE Chair from time to time.

The Professional Papers Committee shall:

  1. Assist Nominees and Certified Medical Practice Executives in paper/case study preparation by:

    a. Reviewing and evaluating paper and case study outlines and manuscripts in light of existing standards for acceptable papers/case studies

    b. Providing constructive comments for improvement for resubmissions.
  2. Assist staff with tutorial sessions for individuals preparing to write their papers/case studies.

  3. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the ACMPE Board Chair from time to time.

The Professional Papers Committee Chair shall:

  1. Ensure a uniform and constructive approach to the development and final approval of each paper and to carry out the purposes of the professional paper requirement so that both the interests of the ACMPE and the authors are served.

  2. Be specifically charged with urging all Nominees and Certified Medical Practice Executives to complete the professional paper requirement.

  3. Help conduct professional paper tutorial sessions.

  4. Assist staff with committee meetings and committee appointments.

  5. Attend the face-to-face committee meeting at the MGMA Annual Conference in October.

  6. Offer feedback to Team Leaders throughout the year.

The Team Leaders shall:

  1. Perform all functions listed above for committee members.

  2. After reviewing grading team comments and recommendations for improvement and assessing an author’s performance in response to these suggestions, will determine and communicate the scope of improvements needed for acceptance of the outline/manuscript to the author.

  3. Offer feedback to graders on their team throughout the year.

The Professional Papers Mentors shall:

  1. Serve as mentors to authors who require assistance.

  2. Assist in the preparation of acceptable papers/case studies as may be deemed appropriate.

  3. Advise and counsel Nominees and Certified Medical Practice Executives with regard to acceptability of their outlines and manuscripts.

  1. Serve as advisory to staff and makes recommendations to Board of Directors.
  2. Assess educational programs and products.

  3. Review the Education and Information Center needs analyses and make recommendations regarding educational and informational programs and products.

  4. Advise staff in the selection and development of content for the production of future educational programs and products, and information programs, products and services within the context of the unified Association curriculum model.

  5. Review, provide advice on, and ratify the education plans for current programs and product offerings.

  6. Serve as a communication link to member education program committees, and other constituents to provide information on and access to the research, curriculum, staff resources and recommendations of the learning department as an effective means of providing direction to the development of their programs.

  7. Review and provide regular input to the Emerging Issues and Hot Topics Report on which MGMA bases many education and Information Center products and services. This report is published 2-3 times a year.

  8. Review efforts to ensure that annual ACCME guidelines are met. Assure compliance with guidelines of all other accrediting bodies with which the Associations have a sponsor relationship.

  9. Evaluate on a periodic basis the extent to which the Associations’ educational goals and objectives as set forth in the MGMA/ACMPE/MGMA CFR strategic plan are being achieved by their educational activities.

  10. Advise staff on the development of new publications.
