Expanding Item - View More Your new Association: Ready for the new frontiers in healthcare

The member-approved merger of MGMA and ACMPE, now a single association called MGMA-ACMPE, took effect Jan. 1. This move puts the organization in a strong position to tackle quickly evolving healthcare issues and continue providing strong and rigorous board certification and Fellowship programs.

With one board, one strategic plan, one budget and one dues payment, the new Association is poised for success. In this changing environment, we know that solid proof of your expertise and experience matters, and ACMPE credentials will continue to be an important way to validate and verify your professional knowledge and skills. While the requirements for attaining and maintaining the CMPE and FACMPE credentials will stay the same, under the new Association you will no longer be required to pay annual ACMPE membership dues to participate in the certification and Fellowship programs. Instead, new participants will pay a one-time fee to enter the ACMPE board certification program and a one-time fee to participate in the Fellowship program. Existing ACMPE Nominees, Certified members and Fellows are automatically grandfathered into the ACMPE program. Those Certified members interested in pursuing Fellowship in 2012 will enjoy a waived Fellowship program entrance fee.

Expanding Item - View More Fellowship Advice: “I want to become a Fellow. How do I get started?”

Here is what some of the newest ACMPE Fellows have to say to anyone starting their pursuit of Fellowship:

“Choose a topic that you are really passionate about and interested in. It makes the journey that much easier.”
Geno V. Marola, MS, FACMPE, Wilkes Barre, Pa.

“I reflected on my career and looked at processes that I was involved in that I really had a passion about. I took those topics and gave them to my Fellowship mentor and she helped me decide which ones others could learn from.”
Andrea Petre, MBA, FACMPE, Bellevue, Wash.

“Go with what you know. The topic that I chose was something that’s part of what I do in my current career. That really helped me to move forward and attain Fellowship in a much more efficient manner.”
Eric Brodsky, FACMPE, Northbrook, Ill.

“Once you get your paper topic approved, don’t delay – because it is easy to put it aside. I gave myself a time-line and that really helped to get it done.”
Debra Staecker Mollohan, FACMPE, Kansas City, Mo.
